Well, bother

I've posted that I've been bothered recently by pain in my legs. I thought it was due to my moving around more after long periods of inactivity. Today I noticed that my ankles and lower legs are swollen. Badly. Checked the medication sheet for Prednisone...

Listed as serious side effects. Fuck. Doctor contacted, and I'm suspending the Pred until told differently. Damnit, this stuff is letting me breathe!

Has your doctor mentioned compression hose? They help a lot with swelling and pain in the foot/ankle/calf. I've worn them for years (chronic lymphadema)

Bummer. Hope they figure something out. But Prednisone is why Jerry Lewis looked so puffy for so many years. Steroids kept his back pain in check. He'd rather be puffy than in pain.
Compression socks will help if it remains in just the legs.

Quitting prednisone suddenly can cause other side effects. Glad you are contacting your doctor tomorrow because he/she will probably tell you that if they are taking you off prednisone, you need to taper off.

Sorry, that anonymous comment was me.

Yeah, my sister used to take pred for her allergies, she came back from a while at the grandparents farm (2 weeks, one month?) all swole up. She's a bitty thing and had gained 15(ish) pounds.
Swelling is a very common side affect, I'm actually surprised they now consider it 'serious'.
