Me: Done. The apartment? Not done.

I've been up since 0500 trying to clean and pack things. We got great help from our mothers, who both packed away like pros while embarrassing their children quite effectively.

I kid. [livejournal.com profile] murphymom and [livejournal.com profile] baka49er were both incredibly helpful.

But, alas, they were the only people who showed up. I've worked myself into utter exhaustion. I reached the point where I couldn't move because I was too stressed and tired to make a decision about what to do next. [livejournal.com profile] kshandra was ordering me to slow down, and I couldn't stop working. Finally, I began to notice the tell-tale signs of an oncoming heat injury, and stopped.

We can't do it. There's just too much left for me to handle, and Kiri freely admits that she's terrible at moving. So we've called the movers and left a message asking that we be upgraded to the "one truck, three men" option and let them know that there will be some packing to do. Hopefully, they check messages in the morning.

I want this to be over.

Remember that you have the old place until the end of August. As long as the movers can get the heavy stuff (furniture, the greater number of the boxes that are ready to go), we (and, yes, I am volunteering) can do the balance of it next weekend (I presume you both will be too tired to do much in the evenings after work).

Hurrah to both of you for getting rid of so much stuff - that's never easy, I know.

So sorry I was unavailable this weekend. There is the "Ikea Bag" approach . . . go to Ikea, buy about 20 of the big Ikea Bags (they're less than $1 each) and start loading by following one wall. Label them in numeric order (#1, #2, #3 . . .) Transport to new house. Unload along one wall in the order packed. Repeat until moved.

Along those lines are also the Costco bags which are very similar to the Ikea Bags. Lovely handles for hand carrying as well as longer straps that can beslung over the shoulder.. I use my 2 Costco bags to do my laundry (up and down the stairs, carry all my trash out to the dumpster, grocery shop (carry the groceries UP to my apt) etc.

Congrats and best of luck again.
