A public post on the current situation.

Two nights ago Kirsten and I were served with a 90 day notice to get out of our apartment. No reason was given. We strongly suspect that it's the clutter, which, ironically, we've been working on reducing. But for whatever reason, we need to be out by September 30th.

To achieve this, we are going to be divesting ourselves of most of our stuff. [livejournal.com profile] murphymom may be able to give us a room for a few months. If not, I have no idea what we're going to do. We simply do not have the money right now to move. Hell, we can barely keep up with the bills!

Anybody got $3,000 they can spare? I'm not kidding. Three grand covers first and last in a new (cheaper) place. It also covers a few expenses along the way.

Right now, we're looking at liquidating some CDs Kirsten bought with her inheritance money. That would get us close.

We may be calling on locals for help... or to help us LARP Rome v. Visigoths. Seriously, we're going to be giving away a lot of our furniture.

This year is fired.

I have a cargo trailer and will cheerfully help you move given enough notice. :)

A 90 day notice is well within the rights of most landlords if there is no lease. Of course I am not an attorney and this is not legal advice.

A good link for information is here (http://www.dca.ca.gov/publications/landlordbook/catenant.pdf) [large PDF]

We've already gotten legal advice, and yeah, they're actually being generous with the time.

We'll be in contact about the trailer. That will rock.
