Agreed. That's actually the first time I'd heard the original version of the lyrics. The American adaptation was being aired when I was in high school, and I'd watch episodes as I folded newspapers for my paper route that I had to complete before heading off to class.
It's just possible that they may have made a good anime-to-live-action adaptation here. Fingers crossed.
That's DEFINITELY something I'll be harassing the local import store about. (There was this GREAT kiosk that sold import DVDs back on Staten Island. Alas, it disappeared and was replaced by... a cheap radio-controlled toy vehicle kiosk. -_- ) The quality looks to be about like Godzilla: Final Wars, and there's not a lot of space scenes that I can tell from that clip... but I definitely must see this. =)
In a similar vein, you may have seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYd8dC_WDVw&playnext_from=TL&videos=TlqpevBo3D4 It's from a pachinko game, but the detailing looks great.
OMG! That looks so cool!! Unlike the live action La Blue Girl, which was creepy and covered in corn syrup. (It's not my fault!! justnate left his video tapes here for 2 years!)
