gridlore: Doug looking off camera with a grin (drama)

Sound off for equipment check!

OK, the bags are packed (I will of course, re-check them four times before I leave), I have the money, my tickets, and what I'm hauling onto the bus with me all together.

All gaming materials have been checked, and double checked.

Fresh batteries in the Palm Pilot.

I think I'm actually ready to do this.

And I'm still scared to death.

Some of it is being away from Kiri and home for this long.. Part of it is nervousness about a new situation. A good portion of it is being worried about the games I'm running at the con. It's been years since I've run games in this situation.

Ah, well. It is time to make that step.

I'm sure that I'm going to have a blast.

I'm sure that I'm going to have a blast.

So am I, angel. I love you, and I'll see you in ten days.

"Stand in the door!" ;-) [*]

Enjoy yourself, Doug. You've earned it.

[*] I'm told that they've eliminated the "stand in the door" jump command. Now, regardless of which fixed-wing aircraft you're jumping, it's "stand by." Why they did this, I do not know.

Because the Army nowadays is made up of wimps who wouldn't know how to soak their feet in a helmet with a three-day course of instruction and a FM!

Why, back in my day, we got the stand in the door command when we left the barracks! We did PLFs in the chow line! I remember General Sherman telling me..

nurse enters with large syringe, jabs Doug with it

He said.. said.. snrrzzzzzz......

You'll do just fine, and you'll be fine.

Besides, if you're not, the hotel will just call 911 and you'll go to the same hospital I did the last time I was at a con in Portland. :-)
