gridlore: Doug looking off camera with a grin (Me - Google)

Getting things done.

  • Started demolishing the apartment today. I'm doing it in strips; concentrating on one area and getting that area done before moving on.

  • This first strip included my RPG/gaming shelf. I tore into it without mercy.

  • As a result, I have box of stuff that is going to being given away or sold, and a few rarities that are going up on eBay.

  • It's really shocking to see how old some of this stuff is. I have emails I printed out in 1997 stuffed into folders.

  • Among the rarities a near-complete run of the print edition of Pyramid and the Skyraiders trilogy from FASA.

  • Three bags of garbage down to the dumpster.

  • Taking a break, and we have called in a pizza strike.

  • I've discovered I have an odd habit in Civ IV. Being a veteran and a student of history, I'm reluctant to start wars without an overwhelming edge in technology and troops.

  • Besides, it's more fun to culture bomb cities and have them defect to your side.

  • It's officially winter here at Offhand Manor. Tonight, the fuzzy penguin sheets go on the bed.

  • Yes, there is a ceremony involved. It starts with the ritual Removal of the Stuffed Animals.

  • Got some good news at work. On Wednesday I'm dropping my truck off at the welder's to have my gates repaired!

  • At this point, it's easier to list the ones that aren't bent or missing latch pieces.

  • It's chilly today. A nice hot shower is most assuredly in my future.

1997? If it wasn't destroyed in the flood, I have printout email from 1977!

Heck, I have RPG characters from 1977.

Heh, I still have some very old notes from 1973, but i think my earliest [kept] printouts only date from 1986. Dot matrix printers - yeesh!

Gaming: it's the stuff we keep.

O_o

That was one of my all-time favorites...

Civilian, but also a student of history. And since I'm going to build up my powerbase and climb the tech tree as fast as I can anyway, I might as well keep my rivals at bay until I can crush them utterly in one swift offensive. I've never been much for the "zerg rush" or "Despotic Conquest" (pumping out lots and lots of cheap units); I actually had trouble in a recent game (role)playing a "scream and leap" power.

Even when I played the Zerg I didn't Zerg rush.

Sometimes my tech lead won't be all that great, but I'll make sure that my units vastly outnumber theirs.

Unrelated, but...
