Hope for the Future

San Mateo High School students have formed a campus Satanism Club.

Good for them. This line in the story real made me chuckle:

"I was completely appalled. I'm a Christian and I love God," said Whattam, who is member of the school's Christian Club.
What angers her the most is the school's support of the club.
"It's just a negative that doesn't belong in the school," she said.

Right, but your religion does?

I hope some moronic parent takes this to court, and gets his/her ass kicked around by the First Amedment.

Hah! Pardon the pun, but hell yeah!
I'm glad the principal knows and is according of the law in this case. Let the parents bitch. Freedom of religion means ALL religions. Freedom of speech means any speech, from any viewpoint. Freedom to worship God has to include freedom NOT to as well, or there is no freedom for any of us.

And like I said when I reposted this to my journal (crediting you for putting up the link in the first place), thank you to these boys for standing up for their rights, even if it did start out as a jab at the jerks in the first place. Great thought and valuable movements were birthed from less.

It was nice to see a quote from a religious figure that in fact understood that the first amendment protected them, though.
