5 things meme

Rules: Post five things you've done that you believe nobody else on your F-list has done. Indulge in remorse (or communal celebration at finding a kindred soul) if someone calls you out on a listed item.
I have...

1. Asked for a nasogastric intubation.
2. Slept, as an adult, comfortably under a bathroom sink.
3. Been in the area of effect of a fuel-air explosive
4. Been invited to join the Ku Klux Klan.
5. Eaten a tree.

oops!

Fred here:
I can match you on three of those.

3. It might have been smaller than what you experienced, but I have been fully within the effect of a fuel air explosion, & lost my eyebrows & had to grow my mustache back because of it. It was a hot water heater's pilot light which I found out the hard way that it was unlit.

4. I have been invited to join both the Klan & the Birchers. I turned them both down in no uncertain terms.

5. Some parts of the fir tree are very tasty indeed. I also landed in a sycamore once while attempting to hang-glide. The parlance of that community had me "eating a tree."

If I should choose to do this meme I would have to include "Driving under a moose & being kidnapped & forcibly hauled off to Siberia for a week by Eskimos.

How the hell did the invite to the KKK come about??? *boggles*

and how does one 'eat' a tree?

Someone made very bad assumptions about me based on my pride in my Anglo-Irish heritage.

Well, we started by gnawing on the bark... it was an Army training thing, and we badly misheard some comments about how one tree was edible. We were supposed to strip the bark off and make a sort of tea.

geez...I will *never* understand why those fuckers think that just because someone has pride in their particular background, that means they hate others that aren't like them.

Yeah, I've heard of making tea from tree bark. I can't imagine that eating the bark directly was very tasty though.

If I may ask, why did you sleep under a bathroom sink? Sounds like a strange place to be- and also an awkward one to be comfortable in.

It was at a convention. We had moved that week, so I was going on about four hours sleep in the last 72. While waiting for the staff housing to be straightened out, I curled up under the sink in the hotel room being used for Con Ops. Despite my angular nature, I fold up nicely.
