Three days of bliss

Yay three-day weekend. One I didn't even realize we got until this morning. I'm going to spend most of it nursing a really annoying muscle strain/pull/whatever in my chest.

As a measure of how callous and cynical I am, take this example. Early this afternoon, my route took me from Livermore to Brentwood. The only real route is Vasco Rd. Coming up to the dump turn-off, traffic slowed dramatically, then we had to edge over for a fire engine.

"Shit" I thought. "Another damn accident."

After the fire engine, I quickly reached the scene of the crash. Solo motorcyclist. From the positioning of the body, and the lack of action by the police on scene, it was pretty obvious that the guy was dead. (Turns out I was right.)

My only thought after encountering a corpse at no more than ten feet, and no more than fifteen minutes after a life ended?

"Man, I'm happy I got through before they closed the road."

RIP random biker dude

Vasco Road is one nasty bit of driving. Even with all the warning signs, and the mandatory highlight section, there are still a steady stream of fatal accidents on it.
