Attention Bay Area Fandom

Do not ever try to use my health issues as an argument against [livejournal.com profile] kshandra's ability to perform her duties at a convention. What is going on with me is none of your fucking business, and I will not tolerate it. At all.

There was one time all Baycon where I needed Kiri to not work, and that was to get me out of the hospital Saturday morning. Other than that, she did what she had to do.

If there is anyone who actually thinks that I'm so frail that being married to me is a detriment to her ability to work cons, let me know and I'll meet you in the dojo/alleyway of your choice for a personal demonstration of just how fit I am. Be sure to bring your medical insurance card and some contact numbers for afterwards.

Yes, I really am this pissed off. Yes, my health is dicey, but to try to use it in fannish politics is so low that I am ready to go on jihad against the moron who pulled this crap. She knows who she is, and should know to avoid me for the next few years.

I'm not sure how much con politics BayCon is willing to endure, but I know that it's chased several of my friends off of staff.

I am told that BayCon was a scrambling mess this year from a staff perspective. Whether or not this is true, I don't know, but chasing off people who are competent and willing to work is the kiss of death for any volunteer-run organization.

As for personnel issues, yes, the question of quality of work and availability is a legitimate one.

But if my work tried to bring up something like this on me, I'd use the "l-word" as in "lawyer" and "lawsuit" and there would be profuse apologies and possibly a head or two. Severed.
