Jerry Falwell Dead at 73

The Rev. Jerry Falwell, the television evangelist who founded the Moral Majority and used it to mold the religious right into a political force, died Tuesday shortly after being found unconscious in his office at Liberty University, a school executive said. He was 73.

I'm sorry, but I cannot, will not, mourn the passing of a man who dedicated his life to destroying civil liberties, establishing one-religion rule in America, and was a complete, howling hypocrite. Jerry Falwell was not a Christian. He was a bigoted, power-hungry, monster who used religion the way Hitler used German nationalism.

In a way, I almost wish I was a theist. Then my image of Jerry getting a very rude shock right about now would have more meat to it.

Then, as a (bad) theistic Quaker I shall imagine Jerry getting hot sand packed up his fudge hole by the minions of hell for you.

If there is a Hell, it just got 1 degree hotter realm-wide. Bullshit and fat burn brightly, after all.

I almost wish I was a theist....
It's probably because I heard him perform it only ten days ago, but when I heard the news on Falwell, I flashed on Al Stewart's Joe the Georgian (http://www.alstewart.com/lyrics/joethegeorgian.htm).

This oughta be interesting

Channel 11 (NBC) is reporting http://www.nbc11.com/news/13325906/detail.html?dl=mainclick that there is going to be an "anti-memorial" in the Castro.

I'm not sure whether it's happening right now, or tomorrow. I need to go back & read the article.

BTW: I'm (Fred) the "anonymous" who commented about H&H, above.
