It's not often I can accurately describe my day as "blood-soaked"...

But I managed to nearly crush the pinkie on my left hand. As it is, it merely bled a lot and hurts like hell.

The entire day was like that.

But now I have a three day weekend. Monday is National People Who Cannot Remember When The Megadeth/Heaven&Hell Concert Is And Ask For The Wrong Day Off Day.

I'm so freaking tired I don't really care about the Giants game. Bed soon.

I'm missing all the holidays. Apparently it was a big one on the 20th, too. I guess I run with the wrong crowd.

What the heck did you do to your hand??? It didn't break or need stitches did it?? My sympathies to you and your poor paw. :(

I was helping a customer offload some all-thread (http://www.williamsform.com/Threaded_Bars/150_KSI_All-Thread_Bar/150_ksi_all-thread_bar.html) from my truck. He pulled when I wasn't ready, and my pinkie got caught against one of the gates while the saw-like ridges on the thread cut into it. ripped up a pretty good flap of skin and it felt like I might have dislocated the joint at first.

Bandaids and lots of antibacterial goop seems to be doing the trick.

Ow. Ow. I don't know how you didn't scream or say amazing words that turned the air around you blue. Dang!!

Can you bend it??

Well, I did let out a hearty "Fuck!" But after that, it was matter of fact, I noticed I was bleeding, Rich from CIW got me some band-aids and antispetic wipes, and I went about my business.

Things like this happen in the industry. Rarely a day goes by where I don't get a new bruise, or come home with a new strained muscle or something. This one was notable for the amount of blood and that it made a good descriptor for how that day went.

Of course I have some experience with pain on the road. (http://gridlore.livejournal.com/776756.html)

Yeah, barking the f-bomb is good when you're hurt. I think it takes some of the pain away. :)

How's it doing now??

[identity profile] gridlore.livejournal.com 2007-04-24 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
More suprise than pain. I knew something had gone wrong, but it didn't really start to hurt for a few minutes. I'm just happy my nail didn't fall off, because nothing squicks me faster.

Healing nicely. I'm going to keep putting antibacterial goop and bandaging it for the next few days until the edges of the torn area show some new skin growth bridging the gap.

One nice thing about cancer and its treatment. Your standard for "medical emergency" gets quite high...

Ouch.

What happened?
