gridlore: Doug looking off camera with a grin (leather - beast)

The long dark tea-time of the soul.

Three thousand words. Three thousand lousy words. That's how close I am. And each one is fighting as hard as Japanese troops on Iwo Jima. I am not doing another sector book unless it is as part of a team effort.

In an effort to both diversify the mp3 playlist, and clear out the pile of cds from the office, I tried to rip some songs from various disks. Our fucking cheap-ass program crashed Windows completely. We need something a bit more stable.

3,000 words, more or less. A bit over 24 hours. If somebody has a spare muse they could lend me?

Muses R us

O! for a Muse of fire, that would ascend
the brightest heaven of invention;
A kingdom for a stage, princes to act,
and monarchs to behold the swelling scene.
Close your eyes and picture this. It's 1979, we're both getting deeper and deeper into Traveller as a lifestyle. We devour each new supplement as it appears. You periodically pillage my room for more.

Now, the spirit of LKW appears to you, and says "In 23 years, you will be writing your third Traveller supplement. Your first two were very successful. You will also have contributed to several others, written JTAS articles, and so forth. You will have been a GoH at SF conventions on the basis of your work. You are going to be a recognized and respected creator of the Traveller universe."

Imagine your feelings as you hear him say all that. Imagine the manic fire of creative energy that explodes through your body. Imagine the rush to your desk to begin writing, now.

Harness that energy, turn to your computer, and write like a 13-year-old Traveller fanatic.

(Be sure to have someone ready to haul your comatose form off to bed when you're done sometime tomorrow...)
