Curse this sense of civil responsibility!

I'm on jury duty this week, which means checking the website each night to see if I've drawn the short straw. I'm one of those sad people who actually accepts that jury duty is part of being a citizen, and doesn't automatically try to get out of it.

Doesn't mean I have to like the idea of giving up time at work for the princely sum of $15/day.

I have now been rejected by two jury selection processes. Of course both were for criminal trials involving roberies, and judges and lawyers tend to be wary of people who freely admit to both having been victims of robberies and disliking criminal acts involving weapons.

I was amazed that I was seated on that jury a couple of years ago hearing a liability cvase involving a woman with cancer, after admitting that I was a survivor.
