This amuses me.
One of the anti-gay marriage people I deal with has devolved (as usual) into screaming, quite imaginative descriptions of what I do with other men (Ha.) and then, oddly enough, it a long screed about Linux users. Took me a minute to figure that one out.

i'm against the government approving "Gay Marriage"
(Anonymous) 2004-07-07 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)in keeping with the far left's pogrom against any possible relation
between government and religion, and the far right's pogrom against anything between their ideals and reality, it seems obvious to me that the only sane solution is to get the government out of the marriage bidness entirely.
any two or more consenting adults can draw up a partnership agreement, just as you would for any other contract.
you sign it in front of a notary, and away you go.
you wanna get married, you go find the church of your choice,
just leave my tax money out of it.

It should be about freedom. The gov't shouldn't extend special benefits or impose additional burdens on any adult due merely to their relationships with other adults. Draw up legal contracts that give power of attorney rights to each other and whatever you two (or more) agree to. Enforce the agreement in civil court. The legal mechanisms are already there - why not use them? Gay, straight, poly, line marriages, S-marriages, etc, etc. all of them now possible as long as everyone in them agrees to it.
You want religion? Find a church.
What I don't understand is why this idea isn't more widespread - especially in the gay/bi/poly community? Get the gov't out of my bedroom or, indeed, out of my house and relationships with other adults completely.
