Michael Kamen, RIP

Michael Kamen, musical director for the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, composer of many film and TV scores, and fused hard rock and orchestral music, culminating in the amazing Metallica/ SF Symphony "S&M" shows, has died.

He and his musical vision will be missed.

Oh, man, that sucks. So many brilliant things he was attached to (remember Aerosmith with the Boston Symphony Orchestra on MTV10, and that phenomenal version of "Dream On" they did?)....

I'll remember him for:

Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves (his music helped save that movie, along with Morgan Freeman and Alan Rickman)
From the Earth to the Moon
Band of Brothers
Die Hard and its sequels
X-Men
and...
The Iron Giant

So many grand adventures.
