Everything that has a beginning...
..has an end.
Just got back from seeing the Matrix.
OK, it wasn't half-bad. Of course, it wasn't really half good either.
Confused it the best way to describe it. We jumped from Zen weirdness to killer action sequences with extremely wooden acting and a fairly bad script. Making this a bit of a disappointment after Reloaded.
The Big Spoilers. (You were warned!)
Trinity's death scene is the most drawn out, pathetic thing I've seen in years. Then woman has metal rods through half her body, including what had to be a lung and her spleen, and she lives long enough not only for the blinded Neo to crawl back to her, but to deliver a long speech. For someone with massive internal injuries, her mouth and nose were remarkably blood-free.
The Battle of Zion was by far the most exciting bit. Filled with enough war-movie cliches to fill a 2,4,7 warehouse, but fun and perfectly animated. When the commander of the power-armor force gives a speech, I half expected a Giant American flag to drop behind him. This guy is also in the "Shut up and Die Already" club. The ending of the main battle really reminded me of Star Wars. Untried, young kid, the only hope of saving the fit, gets a vital shot to save the day.. I almost expected Neo's voce to ring out in The Kid's head saying "Kid, trust your feelings!"
And now, what we been waiting for.. the final round between Neo and Agent Smith. What a letdown! It could decide if it was a Marvel Comics battle between Thor and Dr. Doom, or a wire-enhanced martial arts fight. The twist at the end took us time to puzzle out afterwards at dinner.
I gave it a 6/10. Glad I saw it.
So much for that. We got previous for Shrek II (looks great), Troy (must see!), Return of the King (well, duh)., Timeline (either going to be very good, or very, very bad), and Torque (So damn stupid it is beyond belief.)

kshandra, dafydd and I, went to Coco's, where I had the best French Dip ever made. Came to find that CostPlus had called, and want to talk to me about my application!

I actually liked the Zion battle, because I like cliches. I liked the reloading the best.

Oh, I loved the Zion battle, but some of the cliches made me giggle. The reloaders were great, and drawn from what actually happens when artillery needs to be reloaded.
