A medical day!
This morning, I had my first physical in a while. All my vitals are good, and I left with a raft of referrals. Dermatology, Optometry, Pulmonary, and Oncology. Also need to see my Neurologist about getting medical clearance for the DMV to un-suspend my driver's license. Also need to get a bunch of blood tests but that can wait until I do my next Coumadin level just before Thanksgiving. Other than all the things we already knew were broken I'm a pretty healthy 47 year old man. One fun take-away is a bit of stroke-related info is that my right pupil is more dilated than the left.
kshandra was with me for that, and dropped me at home before going to work. I noodled on the net until my Outreach ride showed up. Today was my second-to-last physical therapy session. The first thing we did was I rode a bike! A real bike, outside! I had mentioned previously that riding was one thing I wanted to get back to doing. After that, it was a lot of redoing the baseline evaluations I had done at the start of the process. Still mild impairments in a lot of places, but much better.
It is mazing the difference quick detection and intensive rehabilitation has made. I'm never going to be quite the same, but I can come close, and in some places, become even better.
I dropped off thank you cards for both my PT and OT. My OT gave me a great Giants 2010 WS victory blanket. Those folks are awesome!
