A medical day!

This morning, I had my first physical in a while. All my vitals are good, and I left with a raft of referrals. Dermatology, Optometry, Pulmonary, and Oncology. Also need to see my Neurologist about getting medical clearance for the DMV to un-suspend my driver's license. Also need to get a bunch of blood tests but that can wait until I do my next Coumadin level just before Thanksgiving. Other than all the things we already knew were broken I'm a pretty healthy 47 year old man. One fun take-away is a bit of stroke-related info is that my right pupil is more dilated than the left.

[personal profile] kshandra was with me for that, and dropped me at home before going to work. I noodled on the net until my Outreach ride showed up. Today was my second-to-last physical therapy session. The first thing we did was I rode a bike! A real bike, outside! I had mentioned previously that riding was one thing I wanted to get back to doing. After that, it was a lot of redoing the baseline evaluations I had done at the start of the process. Still mild impairments in a lot of places, but much better.

It is mazing the difference quick detection and intensive rehabilitation has made. I'm never going to be quite the same, but I can come close, and in some places, become even better.

I dropped off thank you cards for both my PT and OT. My OT gave me a great Giants 2010 WS victory blanket. Those folks are awesome!

Signal boosting

From [personal profile] fimbrethil:

http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/legal-defense-fund-to-fight-felony-charges-against-journalists#&ui-state=dialog. The campaign is an immediate one to raise legal defense funds in 24 hours for Carlos Miller, a photo journalist, and his colleague who are currently facing felony charges for trying to make the police accountable for their actions. If you can't contribute, please consider boosting the signal. Thanks.

Help if you can, if not, spread the signal.
