Giants at the break.
Our mid-season report. Honestly, given the number of severe injuries this team has suffered, I'm amazed that we're doing so well.
The story of the year has to be Ryan Vogelsong. After a decade-long odyssey in the minor leagues he was brought up by the Giants to replace an injured Barry Zito. Vogelsong then proceeds to light up the place, going 6-1 with a 2.17 ERA. He goes from being a fill-in starter to an All-Star in two months. Giants fans love a good underdog story, so VogelSTRONG has quickly become a fan favorite. If he has a good second half, he's an excellent candidate for National League Comeback Player of the Year.
Another great story is the fans themselves. We've sold out all 44 home games played thus far, and are on track to shatter our season attendance numbers. Giants fans are there, involved, and still wearing panda hats and fake beards. There are big groups of Giants fans at almost every road game as well. Black and Orange 'Till We Die!
Our closer is insane But we love our B-Weezy. Fear the Beard!!!
So, the Giants are 52-40 with a three game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West. We keep playing the way we have, manufacturing runs, dominating with our pitching, and I can see us winning our second straight NL West crown. After that? A repeat? Why not? We're still the same bunch of Castoffs and Misfits from last year.
GO GIANTS!!!
