I should have taken this as a sign.

That's the site where I had a blood draw Monday morning. We took the picture yesterday as I was getting ready for my biopsy. That procedure went extremely well, with minimal discomfort.

But now I'm in agony. Both ankles - for no reason - are screaming in pain. It's not like pain from walking too far, it's in the joints themselves. Bother.

Fully expecting a rain of frogs at any moment.

Still feeling miserable, lying down to try to warm up, dealing with my body's usual complaints.. what else could go wrong?

The building could catch on fire.

Our next-door neighbor's daughter had decided to roast a chicken. Using butter. And then got distracted. FWOOMP.

Nice thing about Santa Clara; smaller city means rapid response and lots of equipment. The fire was contained to the oven but there's smoke everywhere. The firefighters did a thorough job of checking for hot spots and possible emergent fires using an IR device. Had two of them in our place checking to make sure that there wasn't a fire brewing in the wet wall or ceiling.

I did not need this today.
