Well, crap.
I'm not posting this from our seats in AT&T Park as I wait for Kiri to get back with her crab sandwich and my garlic fries. Our tickets for tonight's game are still in my backpack, and we're at home watching the Yankees-Indians game on ESPN.
What happened?
One piece of paper got put in the wrong tray. That's it. An order I should have been given this morning. One that had to go out today. When they found it, it was about 1130 and I had just started lunch (drinking a Coke while reading my book - I want my teeth!) in Livermore and Vasco and 580. I get called, and knowing the site in question, and the times involved, realized I had to abandon lunch and drive back to the warehouse immediately. So my "lunch" today was about ten minutes. Get back to the Trimble warehouse in about an hour, get the paperwork, have to roll over to 7th St. for the actual material, and head north.
Here are a couple of maps. From lunch to the warehouse. Warehouse to job site.
At this point it was past 1430. Had I been able to roll straight back, I still would have been up for the game. But instead, I had to make it out to our Vendor in the Cornfield.
Going back would have been the last map in reverse, more or less. Instead, I drove this route.
Final result? I clocked in at 0600. I clocked out at 1700, with a ten-minute lunch. I'll be asleep before the 4th inning, forget being able to drive Darby home from the Mountain View Train Station.
I can't get pissed at anyone for this, because it was just a simple error. A simple error that added 3.5 hours to my day and ruined my plans.
