(Musical) Note to myself

Start rebuilding my Bruce Hornsby collection. The man is a frickking genius, and the time he spent with the Grateful Dead only made him better.

Listening to his cover of Madman Across the Water (courtesy of the lovely, talented, and now slightly older soobunny) and his piano runs in the middle are very reminiscent of Jerry's guitar licks.

Concordat setting: Aliens 1

Since this is becoming a hard-sf setting, I want my aliens to be, well, alien. Not like us, in form or thought (but close enough in thought that we can interact with them, of course. I also wanted races that presented a unique set of challenges to those dealing with them. Since this a "local area" setting (within 150ly of Sol) I figure three or four alien intelligences would be good. So far I have:
