NFL Week 3

San Francisco 49ers: 20
Washington Redskins: 10

Pretty good for a team that was dropping from the flu. We had to pull several players, including our starting Quarterback because of nausea. T.O. had a spectacular touchdown run that was supposed to be a pass play, but fell apart. Garrison Hearst and Kevin Barlow both came within a few yards of 100 yard rushing games. The defense was solid, holding the 'skins to three-and-out seven times. With the bye coming up, hopefully we can all get healthy.

We are now on top of the NFC West. The Rams play tonight against Tampa Bay, so tomorrow we'll have the complete picture.

Next week: Bye week, no game. Oct. 6: Rams at 49ers.

The Dangers of the Past.

I've noticed that I've fallen into one of my ruts.. I'm living in the past to much. "When I was in the Army," "When I was sick," "When I wrote Ground Forces"... I'm using things I have done before as an excuse not to do things now.

That should stop. Things are looking up again. I've got some good ideas for writing (and the line editor is asking me for help on his book!) I've got a lovely wife, a girlfriend, and now another amazing woman flirting with me (what happened? Did I turn 36 and suddenly become a sex god?) I'm relatively healthy for someone who has been what I've been through, so no more excuses!

Get to work, you slacker! Write!

And in Baseball News:

Giants 3, Brewers 1
Dodgers (spit) 4, Padres 3
Rockies 11, Diamondbacks 7

Holy crap, we're within 4.5 games of the slumping D-backs with six to play. We maintain a two-game lead over the hated Dodgers (spit) for the wild card. Today, Arizona starts a tough series against the NL Central champion St. Louis Cardinals. Smash the Snakes!

This one is going down to the last day of the season.
