All the paperwork for our trucks (registration, insurance, motor carrier permit) is kept in a plastic folder along with the crash kit, gas card, and a sign-out sheet. We're supposed to take it with us. This morning, I forgot. Fast forward several hours.

Nextel: Bleeble!
Me: Go ahead.
Adam: Doug, can I get the policy number off your insurance card?
Me: Sorry Adam, I forgot to grab the folder this morning. I'm an idiot.
Adam: Why?
Me: Because I'm an idiot.
Adam: So what do I tell my boss if you get pulled over or get in an accident?
Me: You know, I can keep calling myself an idiot for as long as you'd like.
Adam: Good answer.

My only excuse is I was distracted by entering Eddie's cell phone number into mine.

Later, back at the warehouse I clarified things: at 0600, I was an an under-caffeinated idiot.

Don't type the number in, have them call you while you're standing right there.
You definitely have each other's numbers, and can skip some horrible retarded cellphone T3 data entry and go directly to adding the number in the 'recent calls' list to your address book.

People look at you funny when you ask them face to face to call you, but the fool-proofing (and time saving) is *so* worth the looks.

I think there's some confusion. I wasn't in a wreck, this was just Adam's subtle way of getting me to admit I had left the truck folder at the warehouse. Legally, I need to have those papers in my vehicle at all times. Having my gas card would also be useful.

No, no confusion...you clearly started your day with (concatenation and rearrangement mine):

Offering the solution to the latter distraction, such that getting it into your address book is as at hand as your "Recent Calls" -> Add to New Contact".
