Ha! We owned this game from start to finish. Our offense looked good, the defense was great and everything started clicking. We improve to 3-1, the Rams drop to 0-5 for the first time since 1963 while suffering their first 30-point loss since 1996. And it came at our hands.

Next up: At Seattle Seahawks.

There has to be a way to use this to my advantage...

Maybe I can demand hot go-go boys and threaten to implode the Universe if I don't get them. Nah, I think I'll demand money instead. Then I can buy my own hot go-go boys.

Erm, thias probably is tangental to both the football and gayness points, but are there any American Football players who are out? We had one in Australia (Ian Roberts) who came out and it didn't really do anything to his career, save he was traded to another team, albeit a team that has crawled in at the bottom of the table for the last couple of years...

Well I find myself a little flustered that I didn't know the answer to the question, but with a minor bit of research, this is what I came up with:

David Kopay was the first professional US athlete in any sport to come out publicly as gay. He signed with the San Francisco Forty-Niners (around 1965 I think) and played mainly with them for several years, except for one year when he was traded to play with the Detroit Lions. His American football career as running back continued until 1972 during which time he also played for the Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints, and Green Bay Packers.

He came out in 1975.

There is a book, The David Kopay Story, written with Perry Young.

I also found a reference to Jerry Smith, formally of the Redskins but it seems that the main evidence that he was gay is that he died in the 1980s from AIDS related complications.

There of course does not seem to be any information on any current players. There are many rumors about Troy Aikman of the Dallas cowboys though, but nothing I could certainly prove. I do not even know how such rumors started, perhaps it’s just wishful thinking.

I did find a reference to your Mr. Roberts. Apparently he posed nude for a gay magazine?
