Until last night, I had never seen The Usual Suspects. Not only that, I had managed somehow to not get spoiled on the ending. kshandra was pretty amazed when about halfway through I started analyzing who Keyser Soze might be. Freaking brilliant film. A film told almost entirely in flashbacks, which is a difficult way to tell a story, but Bryan Singer brings it off beautifully. I'm just confused as to why Kevin Spacey didn't win the Oscar for Best Actor. Seems to me he carried the entire film. Of course, his Best Supporting statue was richly earned.


The ending killed me. I was literally shouting "Verbal was Soze?" And making up that entire story from things in the room; all the time keeping the mild cripple from New York cover. The shot of him losing the limp and straightening out his hand as he walked away was chilling. That's my kind of villain!

So this one can go back to Netflix tomorrow. Next up: The Seventh Seal

And now you know why I've always said that the entire story is told in the last five minutes of the movie, and everything up to that point is mindf*ck.
