Screw Anna Nicole Smith.
How about some wall to wall coverage of another young woman who died yesterday?
Jennifer M. Parcell, USMC. Killed in Action, February 7th, 2007.
No, she never had a reality series. No, she was never Playmate of the Year, or married a billionaire old enough to be her grandfather, and no, her lawsuit over the estate never made it to the Supreme Court. She was just a Marine, doing her duty in a distant land. I may not agree with the mission she was on, but I sure as hell supported her.
I'm forwarding this link to CNN, and challenging them to do fifteen minutes on Marine Parcell's life and untimely death.
Thanks to
filkertom for the link.

Doug, you've never posted anything I've agreed with more than this one.

Marshall wasn't a billionaire in life, though his estate may have approached a billion at some point. More importantly, though they met when she was merely a stripper/topless dancer, by the time they were married Smith was a millionaire model and pinup girl herself, just not a hecto-millionaire.

And double good on you for bringing this up, and shooting it to CNN with the challenge to report something pertinent. Anna Nicole Smith has done nothing beneficial for our country save put a face to the ignorance, excess, and blatant whorish greed of all too many American people.
And, of course, dying. Fat sow.
But! ...while these things are truly poignant and meaningful, Anna Nicole smith did not fight and die for her country. But Ms. Parcell did, in a despicable war she should have never given her life for. But, despite all the heinous things that can be said about the war, I think I'll refrain out of respect for Ms. Parcell, who felt herself moved to take up arms and in the end gave everything she had to give. And if she felt that she should serve, and served unto death, then I have no right to currently criticize.
And we damn sure shouldn't be spending all of our fucking time talking about Anna Nicole Smith. Gah, my head hurts so much.
