This might be my best character ever.

I'm working hard on my Pathfinder setting, in hopes of running a gem in the coming year. I also think I might be able to sell it once I'm done through DriveThru RPG. It's that good.

Anyway, I'm making a concentrated effort to set the rules in my memory, start to finish. As I'm reading the character generation rules, I find myself drawn to the Dice Pool method for stat generation. You get 24d6 to spread between the six characteristics with a minimum of 3d6 in each. Effectively you have 6d6 to assign. This is great way to create optimized class characters. As an exercise I decided to roll up a Half-Orc Barbarian. My assignments were as follows:

Strength: 6d6
Dexterity: 4d6
Constitution: 5d6
Intelligence: 3d6
Wisdom: 3d6
Charisma: 3d6

Then I rolled them bones...

STR: 33 (+11)
DEX: 14 (+2) 16 (+3)
CON: 21 (+5)
INT: 3 (-4)
WIS: 9 (-1)
CHA: 11 (±0)

Yup, a natural 3 on Intelligence. Half-Orcs get a +2 to any characteristic but I'm using that to boost DEX. This guy can be outwitted by the pack mules, but can probably carry more than a team of them. I see him as being intensely loyal to anyone who treats him with respect.

I'm going to name him Gongfermore (a joke only real Medieval history geeks will get) and have him addicted to sobriquets. One day he is Gongfermore the Bold, the next Gongfermore Inn-drinker. I'm beginning to like this character in a "Hulk smash!" sort of way.

Now I just need to find a game...
