Heavy Metal Sunday goes to Finland!

Nightwish, who are pretty much the creators of the power symphonic metal subgenre, have been bopping around Finland and Europe with limited success for just over ten years. Recently, original lead vocalist Tarja Turunen left, and was replaced on 2007's Dark Passion Play by Anette Olzon.

As far as a way to end a disappointing year, the San Francisco Giants couldn't have asked for much more fun against the rival and division champion Dodgers.

All-Star Tim Lincecum won his 18th game and wound up the majors' strikeout leader. Shortstop Omar Vizquel went out victorious with the fans on their feet in what might have been his last game for the Giants. Retiring owner Peter Magowan was celebrated on a day that became much more special with the positive result.

"It's hard to have a better game than how that went," manager Bruce Bochy said.

Lincecum matched his career high with 13 strikeouts to finish with a majors-best 265, and gave Cy Young Award voters an impressive final start to think about in San Francisco's 3-1 victory over Los Angeles on Sunday.

We end up 72-90, in fourth place in the NL West. Considering most predictions had us losing over 100 games and in the basement all year, this is good.
