I promise a big update soon.

But I have to run out the door now to hit the DMV (I had planned on leaving earlier, but my body had other plans..)

But in the good new category, I've just gotten my guest survey for BayCon. I'll be bouncing some ideas off y'all for panels.

Bye, Woody!

Pitcher Kirk Rueter Retires

Kirk Rueter retired Monday, ending a 13-year major league career during which he became the winningest left-handed pitcher in San Francisco Giants history.

Rueter finished with a 130-92 record and a 4.27 ERA. He won 105 games after joining the Giants near the end of the 1996 season, surpassing Mike McCormick last year as the winningest lefty in San Francisco history.

Kirk was always one of my favorite pitchers in our rotation. Not just for his impressive arsenal of pitches, but for his great attitude and sense of humor. He was infamous for his numerous good-luck charms, including a horseshoe that he kept in his pocket while pitching.

The Giants are planning a Woody day this season. I'm so there.

And I'll bring a horseshoe.

So, what have I been up to?

Well, after being canned, I took a couple of days to get over it (and get my usual revenge fantasies out of my system.) Relaxed, played Nethack, and dealt with some sort of bug.

Friday, Kirsten and I went out (which I want to do more often.) We went to see Ultraviolet. Kiri liked it. I found it less than stellar.

Nattering about the movie with a few spoilers )

Saturday, we were supposed to go to Consonance for the Cynthia McQuillan memorial circle. I made it there, and bought a CD, but then my stomach rebelled and I beat a hasty retreat. Spent the day doing a little writing, and watched a lot of TV. Sunday I vegged. I did get my resume updated (with the help of my personal Word Wizardess) and checked craigslist.org for some leads.

Today was the last of my stomach ick (I hope.) Went to the DMV and got my print out. While perusing craigslist, I found an ad for Atwood! So I walked over there and spoke with my old boss. While there is a position, he's already pretty much decided on a new guy, and he's close to retiring. So no luck there.

Job hunt:

Email with resume sent to 1-800-GOT-JUNK

Starting tomorrow, I'm going to devote one hour a day to writing, and one hour to cleaning.

(no subject)

I get a guest membership for BayCon. Since Kirsten is working the con, I am throwing it up for grabs.

But there's a catch. You have to write my con bio. This has to contain the following elements:

1. I'm the author of GT: Ground Forces

2. I contributed to several other products, including Nobles and Interstellar Wars

3. I'm a cancer survivor.

You have 200 words. Go nuts. seriously, get silly with it.
